How to remove basement mold?

If you have discovered mold in your home you should get to wok! Did you know that mold can cause several illnesses like respiratory illnesses; it can cause asthmatic reactions, a sore throat, watery eyes and other unpleasant symptoms? So react quickly and save the health of yourself and your family!

Mold usually forms in moist places with not much of a ventilation system and usually on natural materials as wood, paper, soap etc. The perfect place for mold to evolve is the basement – no considerable daylight, constant humidity and maybe occasional flooding.

When removing mold you need to keep in mind the next tips:

-         use a mask when removing mold to protect your health;

-         remove mold by scrubbing it down with soap or detergent;

-         from some surfaces (like drywall or paper) it is impossible to remove the mold completely so these surfaces should be entirely replaced, in case the mold is in wood, try sanding;

-         after removing the mold, use a mixture of bleach and water to disinfect the surfaces and finally clean the surfaces with water and dry them off;

-         the basement should be provided with additional ventilation.
