How to turn a basement into a bedroom? | |
· Clear the whole basement of any items you will not need. Move any furniture, your sporting equipment and the boxes to form a blank slate in which to work.
· Sweep the basement, mopping the entire surface with a consumer or commercial floor cleaner, preferably something that smells nice. This step is vital if you will apply any expensive floor covering. Remove the construction paint that was left on the foundation flooring.
· Frame the bedroom using drywall 2-by-4s if necessary. Cut holes in the drywall to place telephone connections and electrical outlets. Insulate the walls and ceiling according to legal regulations and construction needs.
· Select a lighting scheme or fixture for your space. Movable track and recessed can one are viable alternative. Lighting is important and a possible issue in the basement, as most have no or little natural light sources.
· Apply 2 coats of paint onto your drywall after putting a primer coat on. Leave the paint to dry at least twenty-four hours.
· Put down any desired floor covering. Natural wood is common, and so are throw rugs and modular carpeting.
· Begin moving your furniture in the basement bedroom, placing it in the desired locations.
