basement waterproofing question? | |
I live in a house in a flood zone. On heavy rains my basement use to flood. I had an indoor french drain waterproofing system installed. For 11 years water has been constantly coming into the pit for the sump pump. I burned out 9 pumps. The pump shoots out water every 5 minutes. There is a heavy sewer smell coming from the area of the pump. The sewer line is not broke. How do i get rid of the smell and also how do i stop the water from coming in?

1I live near the ocean and I'm in New Construction. First thing...build up the grade of soil around your basement. Use a heavy soil. Next, go to the homecenter like Home Depot and get a large container of UGL Drylok. Make sure you get latex. A big 4" cheap brush. Apply this Drylok heavily on the basement wall where the wall meets the floor. Go up at least 3 feet.
You will need at least 3 coats of Drylok. Put it on heavy and let each coat fully dry. The smell might mean it's time to replace the check valve.
